A year has passed since Mercer's brother, a novice pilot, vanished after crashing his plane near a remote island. Driven by lingering questions and a refusal to accept the official explanation, Mercer embarks on a perilous rescue mission. She soon uncovers a horrifying truth: her brother was not merely a victim of circumstance.
