In the bustling streets of New York, Kate and her aggressive partner Big Al make a living by selling guns. Kate may be intelligent, fashionable, and self-assured, but all of that crumbles when Al's jealousy and violent outbursts come into play. As Kate struggles to recover from the abuse, she finds support in three unlikely allies: Vic, who harbors romantic feelings for Kate; Reilly, torn between loyalty to Al and his attraction to Kate; and Liz, the counselor from a program for abused women. While Vic and Reilly contemplate drastic measures to deal with Al, Liz provides encouragement to Kate, who is trapped in fear and dependency. Can Kate break free from Al's control and find her own strength, or will his threatening presence continue to loom over her?
